Vladimir Boytsov is telling:

«Work on ceilings of bypass gallery started at the end of the spring - beginning of the summer of 1999. Our team worked on 22 cross-domical ceilings and two torispherical vaults of the gallery. There were two heavy months of hard work, preparing ceilings for gilding and for painting, placing layers of grounding, lacquer, transferring of ornament, engine-turn, gilding and painting, everything was made fast, the team worked 12 hours a day.

I would like to name painters of our team especially main body. They are Tarasov Gennady, Bibikov Victor, Ivushkin Petr, Petrov Igor. And me, leader of the group. We all graduated monumental department of Surikov Arts Institute.

All works from the beginning were made by the main body of five people. Only at final stage appeared gilders, painters that painted separate fragments of ceilings cross-domical vault and torispherical vaults. Painting and ornament smoothly transferred from ceilings to walls and pilasters that was the area of work of Vladimir Pavlov and his team. And I think that in the close cooperation of those two groups we succeeded to elaborate united style and color of bypass gallery.

Its solemnity and organic combination with marble plates on walls with golden letters in texts the names of all participants of battles with Napoleon's army, the most significant manifesto, manuscripts, that tell about all stages of the campaign of 1812-1814 are felt in the texts of manuscripts as well as in luxurious decoration of ceilings, pilasters, piers. And all this are joined into wonderful united ensemble that finishes with dignity all decoration of the Temple».
