Among works made by Vladimir Boytsov team the painting of the Small patriarchal refectory deserves special attention. Made in dark red and golden colors, painted with wonderful patterns it amazes everybody who can see it.

Even at the time of the Temple construction its architectural and engineering decisions were enriched with details and typical features of modern technologies and materials. There are unique system of lighting, lifts, technical rooms. Appeared bottom temple with three refectories, including one patriarchal refectory, meeting room of holy synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, museum and church synod hall.

Here were applied in the new way academic manner of painting in which old masters worked. Golden ornaments across cherry color ground with flower and plant ornament based on motives of the XVI-XVII centuries were drew by contours with awl deeply in plaster of vaults. Under the acrylic gold was placed pearl silver for the play of light.

Painting is going down and smoothly passes from ceilings to columns and flows down to the floor, well harmonizes with original Russian patriarchal forms of apartment. Patterns are interlaced and create an impression of Garden of Eden that embraces the refectory with branches and gives the feeling of warmth, scope and cosiness.

Here in the Small patriarchal refectory are the doors to the patriarchal apartments and to the private apartment of Patriarch. That is why the Small patriarchal refectory is first of all designed for official receptions, solemn dinners and ceremonies. The Temple includes 4 refectories in all.

Total area of painting of the Small patriarchal refectory is more than 400 sq. m. Works started in October and finished in the beginning of December 2000. Supervising committee was leaded by priest Leonys Kalinin. Member of Art Council of the Russian Art Academy under the leadership of academy president Z.╩. Tseretely, vice-president ┼.I Zverkov, curator L.V. Shershova spent a lot of time to the perfection of incarnation of Vladimi Boytsov conception on Small patriarchal refectory painting. At Christmas 2001 All-Russian Patriarch Alexiy II and keeper of the Temple father Michael could open refectories halls.
